Last night… Friday Dec 21, 2018… 4.5 months to the day from when we moved out. We slept laid awake most the night on our new Endy mattress for the first time last night. The smells of the new house , the different bed, (it’s actually quite fantastic, but different again) the aches from moving, the bright light coming in our bedroom window (the blind company forgot to order our bedroom blind?!?) made for a wakeful night, but one where we were quite happy to exclaim to each other several times.. “we’re home! Can you believe we’re home?”
Our favourite local flower shop (plug Watering Can) delivered a bouquet from friends blessing us on our first night at home.
John came this morning and helped Bill hang the bathroom mirror (Purple Magnet.. do you recognize the birdie? It was one of the first things out on my bathroom counter, it goes SO well here!)
And they installed the microwave/ hood vent, completing our appliance installation.
So all the appliances are in and working (just need the hood vent hooked up). We’ve done a load in the dishwasher, (love it!) used the gas stove and gas convection oven, and stocked the fridge.
Several loads have been washed in our old W/D set that are now stacked conveniently in the laundry/Butlers Pantry
Bill was a little fearful the new chest freezer wouldn’t fit (remember when ours died a few months ago and I had to cook alllll the meat and buy a new freezer?) but it fits perfectly! So fantastic not to have it in the kitchen anymore.
We’ve repurposed our office bookshelves as pantry shelves for now until we decide how we’re going to do cabinetry in here. For now the shelves work great.
I set up our living room While Bill was assembling the bedroom so we’d have a place to crash in the evening.
And today we bought a last minute $10 Norfolk Pine in a planter from Walmart and I took 10 min to quickly light it and decorate it. Not bad for $10 and 10 ⏰ eh?
Bill has been busy reassembling all our bedroom furniture so we can unpack our clothes.
I look forward to showing you when it’s done. I bought this gorgeous new bedspread
last winter before I knew we were doing this Reno, and saved it for after renos..
Last on the main floor will be the office… Don’t look… I keep this door closed.
Blinds (except bedroom) were all installed Thursday.
and our makeshift window covering so we can sleep tonite…. cardboard and paper)
So we’re home in time for Christmas.. 2 days to prep, buy, wrap, bake…..
or maybe just to say..
So glad you’re home and enjoying your space. When can we come?? ❤️
